These cooler winter months get me in the mood to work with yarn, and this month, particularly, is no exception. I found a few skeins of Caron® Simply Soft Party Yarn in Platinum Sparkle and decided to go to town.
At first, I found a pattern that incorporated a lacy stitch with double crochet (dc) and triple crochet (tr). The result was undulating rows of delightful, curvy shells. Surprisingly, it made the yarn feel stiff and unpleasant to the touch. After six rows, I pulled it apart. That pattern wasn’t made for this type of yarn.
Not finding any other pattern that excited me in my library, I instead chose to create one of my own. As you can see from my photo, it’s simple, and it actually works up quickly. The sparkly thread in this yarn really captures the light and gives the unmistakable feeling of lighthearted fun! Best of all, it’s soft and supple.
Hopefully, I’ll be done with this scarf tonight so I can start a matching crocheted hat. I’d like to wear them to a party this weekend!
